From download to the first fight

  1. Download the client

    Use the button or any mirror on this page.

  2. Extract it

    Unpack the archive into a folder of its own.

  3. Apply Update 0.1

    Extract the latest patch into your Kalypse folder and overwrite all files.

  4. Start the game

    Run Start.exe and log in. No account yet? Create one.

System requirements

Kalypse runs on almost any Windows PC from the last decade.

Install before launching

Most Windows installations already include compatible versions. If the client will not start, install both.

If something goes wrong

The two problems players run into most, and how to fix them.

Antivirus deleted engine.dll

Antivirus software may flag game .dll files as suspicious, especially after updates. This is a false positive. Add the Kalypse folder to your Windows Defender exclusions:

  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Go to Virus & threat protection.
  3. Click Manage settings.
  4. Scroll to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions.
  5. Click Add an exclusion and choose Folder.
  6. Select your Kalypse installation folder.

After adding the exclusion, restore the file from quarantine or extract the client again.

The client crashes on launch

If the client crashes immediately on launch:

  1. Make sure you installed both DirectX and Visual C++ above.
  2. Run the launcher as Administrator (right-click, then Run as administrator).
  3. Add the Kalypse folder to your antivirus exclusions (see above).
  4. Turn off overlay software such as the Discord overlay or MSI Afterburner.
  5. Check that Windows is up to date.
